1. Install Air Conditioning & Heating- One of the easiest ways to completely transform a garage is to install efficient HVAC equipment in it. Most garages are not included in centrally ducted systems at the planning stage, which means they can be rather unpleasant spaces in which to hang out at certain times of the year. Adding them to a central system is normally a prohibitively expensive option at best, which is why we recommend considering a ductless mini-split unit instead. You can purchase a ductless mini-split combo air conditioner/heater from any good home improvement store and as long as you hire a qualified HVAC engineer to handle the installation, it shouldn’t be difficult to fit in your garage. Once installed, you will be able to use your garage as a comfortable workspace or hobby area, at any time of the year.
2. Installing Drywall and Insulation– This is a great idea, especially in combination with our first suggestion above, as it helps to lower the cost of regulating the temperature in your garage. If you have any plans to use your garage as additional living space in the future or you would like to use it for something else, such as a music rehearsal space for your kids, installing drywall and insulation just makes good sense. 4.
